CASSIE + CHAD | COURTHOUSE ELOPEMENT | SANTA BARBARA, CA

“Sam was the most fun, most professional, and most stylish elopement photographer I could have ever dreamed of finding. We just received our full elopement gallery from her, in record time, and I want to print every single photo. She came prepared for our very first phone call with an agenda and ideas for the day I had barely started planning, and continued to make us feel seen and taken care of throughout our visual planning process leading up to the elopement day. She responded to my texts of my wedding dress or details ideas with enthusiasm and kindness, and I felt that she really cared about our relationship and making our day exactly what we wanted it to be. Upon meeting her in person, she was even more of all these things: kind, funny, encouraging, energetic, empathetic. She knows how to instruct poses that feel like you and how to match your energy where it is. Her artistic eye is detailed and specific and captured our special day with grace and good humor. I would recommend her to anyone, for any occasion.”

Natalie + Reyce | Backyard Wedding | Gilbert, AZ

“Sam Griggs is an exceptional wedding photographer to have on the best day of your life! Not only does she go above and beyond providing a diverse, beautiful collection of photographs — but she’s punctual, responsive, swift, and a mighty fun addition to the dance floor. ;) When my husband and I sat down to look at our gallery, tears were definitely shed. All of our most favorite memories were so effortlessly captured and made us remember exactly how the day felt: perfect. Sam is a dear friend of mine, and her intentions to make sure everyone’s special day is unique are pure. Truly couldn’t have imagined anyone else to be there, and I can’t recommend her enough. The best around!”

Val + Luke | Hammersky Wedding| Paso Robles, CA

“Working with Sam was an absolute pleasure! She was present during every special little moment during our big day, and we completely relived the day once she delivered our photo package. Her passion for photography and capturing special moments is palpable, and we feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with her.” - Val & Luke Horeczko

The gal behind the lens

My name is Samantha, but people call me Sam.

Based in Portland, Oregon. I’ve been documenting landscapes and people for 8 years. Most would say I am type A. I’m direct, have big opinions and am not afraid to stand up for myself and others. I am fiercely passionate about the art I get to create, the people I love and the 4 legged creature I get to take care of.

Picking up a camera has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. There is just some thing so special about freezing a moment in time and being able to remember how you felt in that moment. Having clients that become friends and put their full trust in you is something I hold close to my heart.

I wont be that photographer that just shows up, takes a few pretty photos and leaves. I want to get to know you and your love story, how ever that looks for you. Tell me everything, and lets make some magic.

A western inspired wedding day

Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to document a western inspired wedding day set amidst the beauty of a woman owned apple farm. The bride, adorned in a delicate gown with a vintage touch, radiated a sense of timeless elegance. Her groom, exuded a quiet and silly confidence that perfectly complemented her grace. Highland Fields, with its western charm, surrounded by autumn trees provided a backdrop that seemed straight out of a fairytale.…
